After making 10 sketches last week it was now time to start making some blocks.
I started with making some more sketches based on the velcro design because I found velcro would not be quite sturdy
Here I got the idea to work with a tape measure as it is a sewing tool and it is similar to my ideas with ropes but now you can change the rope length
After getting my materials I tested out conecting my two tape measures
I found that using a earring hook worked well because it allowed me to quickly attach and reattach the tape measures together
I also experimented with the strength of the tape measure, discovering it was at least strong enough to move scissors.
Then I build a cube for one tape measure with cardboard. This did not really work unfortunately as to roll up the tape you needed something to push the tape measure against and the cardboard inside was not sturdy enough.
So I decided to add the two tape measures together into one block
The holes at the side are to allow for pushing the buttons on the tape measures

I also made holes for the tape to come out of but they were not broad enough so I enlarged them as can be seen by the cuts on the above picture
